Perugia for chocolate addicts

“And one thing was absolutely certain: life had never been sweeter.” Every October, Charlie would have a fine time in Perugia. The next Eurochocolate event will take place from 14 to 23 October, during which time the entire city gives off the aroma of cocoa. The capital of Umbria, Italy, dedicates this month to selling chocolate in a host of different flavours, including pepper, pistachio and orange. The city will be packed with characters like axe man, who works a giant chunk of chocolate. The block shatters into pieces for the enjoyment of anyone who can get their hands on them. Whatever falls on the floor of the platform is shared out among the watching crowds. Then you can move between Kit-Kat mountains, giant Baci chocolates (the best-known bonbon from the city’s chocolate factory, Perugina), chocolate sausages and fruit fondues. Corso Vanucci, Perugia’s main street, will be packed with stalls and activities related to the treat of the month.
